Slowpitch is in Full Swing

In seven days our slowpitch softball team will be getting the bats and gloves out and in the dugout here in Heavener. The game will be played at the Heavener Lady Wolves softball field on March 4th and will be a match played against the Cameron Lady Yellow ackets. Junior Lillian Smith, when asked if the team is prepared for the first game she said “ we have been working since fastpitch season ended for slowpitch. I think our team has improved since the fastpitch season, but our team is young and we still have a lot of work to do.”

Last year the team had seven players that were seniors. This year there is not one senior playing on the team. Lillian Smith says “ we don’t have any seniors this year, which means we have a whole season to work on improving and we won’t lose any talent.” In the past couple of years, the slowpitch team has made it to the state tournament. In fact, the team received the title of state runners up last season. Lillian Smith is in fact very hopeful that they make it to state yet another time this year.

So mark your calendars and come out and support the Lady Wolves slowpitch team in their first game of the season next week against the Cameron Lady Yellowjackets!
