STRONG READERS ACT
At Heavener Public Schools, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident, successful reader. The Strong Readers Act is a state law designed to ensure that all students are reading on grade level by the end of third grade.
This law provides support for schools, teachers, and families to work together in helping students build strong reading skills. Through early identification, targeted instruction, and family involvement, the Strong Readers Act helps set a foundation for lifelong learning.
What This Means for Our Students and Families:
Students will receive regular reading assessments to track progress.
Extra support and interventions will be provided for students who need additional help.
Families will receive clear communication about their child’s reading progress and ways they can support reading at home.
Schools are required to follow state guidelines and policies to ensure consistent support for student success.
