Interview with Mrs. Watkins

Mrs. Mandy Watkins has been teaching computer classes at Heavener for seven and a half years.

Q: What is one of your hidden talents?

Mrs.Watkins: One of my hidden talents would be my defensive driving tactics.

Q: What makes a ‘good day’ at school?

Mrs.Watkins: A good day at school is every day for me!

Q: What is your favorite lunch from the cafeteria?

Mrs.Watkins: My favorite lunch is the chicken and noodles.

Q: How does technology make teaching more simple or difficult?

Mrs.Watkins: Technology makes teaching more simple as far as the kids are engaged in technology, but makes it difficult when you rely so much on it and it's not working properly.

Q: What’s a school sport or activity you enjoy watching?

Mrs.Watkins: I love all sports, and I always enjoy watching the talent show and Mr. HHS.

Q: If you could take the students on a field trip to anywhere in the world, where would you take them?

Mrs.Watkins: If I could take students on a field trip anywhere it would be.....Well, if I'm being honest, it would not be educational. We all need a break, so it would be any beach. I love the sand and water.

Q: What’s the best/worst thing about being a teacher?

Mrs.Watkins: The best thing about being a teacher is getting to know so many students and being able to invest in their lives. The worst thing is that I'm not a morning person and I wish we could start at 9:00 a.m!

Q: What is your first memory of school?

Mrs.Watkins: My first memory of school as a student would be my Kindergarten year. I was not very nice I guess now looking back. I forgot my gym shoes to play on the gym floor. I loved basketball even then, so I grabbed the girls shoes next to my cubby and wore them, they were about 2 sizes too small and hurt really bad. I can remember her crying because she couldn't find hers, but I didn't care because I was getting to play on the gym floor.

Q: How do you think students will remember you and your class?

Mrs.Watkins: I would hope that they know that I love and care for each of them as if they were my own kids, that I cared about them not just in the classroom but outside the classroom as well.  I hope they remember, that I made learning fun and that they felt safe and that they could be themselves when in my class.
