Math Takes A Brain Break

The week of fall break, Mrs. Martin’s class had some fun and played a few math games. The class got to play game like speed and a special kind of battleship. I asked Mrs. Martin why they were playing games and she said “the kids have been working hard all year, and they just got done taking the Pre-ACT. I felt they needed a break.” The battleship game they are playing is basically the same concept as battleship, but this game uses X and Y coordinates and slope to sink battleships. I then asked why she chose these games to play and she said “They have been learning slope and Battleship teaches slope.” The students seemed pleased with this relaxing way to end their first 9 weeks.
