city of Austin, Texas

Austin—famous for its live music scene—is filled to the brim with things to do and see which makes for the perfect destination for Spring Break. Often touted as the “Live Music Capital of the World,” Austin is home to 250 live music venues and famous music and film festivals, like,  South by Southwest and Austin City Limits. In addition to its music scene, Austin has much to offer with its seemingly endless attractions and restaurants. Check out Zilker Park known as the “jewel in the heart of Austin.” Zilker Park features a giant spring-fed pool, sculpture garden, paddle boarding, and so much more. Take a walk or bike ride around the Hike and Bike Trail or attend a concert. Zilker Park is home to the famous Austin City Limits Music Festival (October 4th through October 13th, 2019). While you’re at Zilker Park, take a slow ride on the Zephyr Miniature Train that lets people of all ages soak in the beautiful views at the park.

Make sure to explore beautiful downtown Austin with a Walking Tour from the Austin Visitor Center. Grab a coffee from Jo's Coffee and take a photo in front of the “I love you so much” mural painted on the coffee bar’s wall. Austin’s slogan is “Keep Austin Weird” and rightly so as Austin has many funky and awesome murals that make great photo ops. Like the iconic “Greetings from Austin” mural in the South Austin neighborhood, for instance, and the funny “You’re My Butter Half” in East Austin. For lunch, grab a bite to eat at one of Austin’s plethora of food trucks like LeRoy and Lewis that offers a “creative take on barbecue,” according to AustinTexas.org. One will not be hardpressed to find barbecue in Austin, as a barbecue joint or food truck is often nearby. However, Austin has so many other tasty food options to try like, “breakfast tacos from east side favorite Juan in a Million or the creative concoctions at Torchy's Tacos, as well as quality regional Mexican cuisine from locales like Manuel's and Tex-Mex treats and . . . off the beaten path places like the patio of Polvos on South First Street,” AustinTexas.org said. If you want the full experience, take an Austin Eats Food Tour; you will not be sorry.

Austin offers a variety of things to do for people of all ages. Whether you are spending spring break with your friends, family, or significant other, Austin is a perfect location to get lost in for a while. From coffee shops and honky tonks to the iconic record store, Waterloo Records, and the live music on every corner, Austin is definitely one of the most happening places in the United States and is worthy of a visit.
