A New Addition to Fifth Grade

Mrs. Wilson is a  veteran at Heavener, but she is now teaching her first year of 5th grade.

How long have you been teaching?

This is my 25th year, this is my first year of teaching 5th grade though and before that I taught 3rd grade for 12 years.

What is your favorite subject to teach?

Language arts, because you can learn so much from it.

What’s your favorite lunch in the cafeteria?

I love the stew, with the grilled cheese on the side.

What do you enjoy doing when you aren’t teaching?

I like to spend time with my family, going fishing, working with my husband.

How many years of college did you go through and where?

I got a masters degree from [Northeastern University In Tahlequah.]

When did you decide to become a teacher?

In high school, I thought it would be rewarding to be enthusiastic and make learning fun.

What is the best part about your job?

Getting to be a part of children’s lives.

How do you think the Sooners are doing this year?

They’re doing good, the defense seems to be coming alive in the second half, and Baker [Mayfield] is fun to watch. There’s just something about Sooner Magic.
